This morning when opening my email I found my Woopra invitation. Woopra is a live web site statistics service + more! I’ve literally only used it for a few minutes, but it is addictive.
A quick overview…
http://www.woopra.com and then wait for your invite. Mine took under two weeks. Once invited you log in and copy your javascript code for your assigned web site. You insert the code into your site, like you would google analytics.
You can view your stats via their site or for the exciting part view them live if you download their application. On my windows machine I installed the software and am glad I did so.
The java software allows you to view real time statistics of your site. From a ticker scrolling across the bottom, pages currently being viewed, location via countries and much more information.
It is also provides an option to chat with people visiting the site. I tested in quickly and was amazed. I just selected the person to chat to and then a window is displayed via their browser and they can respond if they want.
There is an event notifier feature which I've yet to explore properly. However as the name suggest it seems it will notify you on a given set of criteria and after looking through the settings the criteria to choose from is quite exhaustive, excellent.
There really is a lot to explore and this quick overview has not given it justice. It is also very well presented and graphical. They have managed to present it so that you can have lots of options to choose from, but the screen is not cluttered.
So the question in the subject line: Woopra – Google Analytics alternative? Perhaps, but I’ve just installed Woopra as well as the google analytic code for the moment, until I’ve explored more. Best of both worlds for me.
