This blog post is about the old Trust Raina 2.1 subwoofer speaker set.
Please note: I’m not a sound expert or used to having good sound equipment, so I’ve got little experience when comparing to other speakers. Please keep this in mind when reading the review.
Introduction
I purchased this speaker set ages ago and because of the bass and lack of hardware controls, they went unused for a long time, just sitting on a shelf. With the help of an equalizer for Windows 10, I started using the speaker set again recently and I thought I should blog about the experience.
I think a lot of people probably use these speakers with a computer. You power the set via USB and the input is via a 3.5mm jack connection. I used the speakers with a Windows 10 PC.
I took a photo of a pen placed on the subwoofer, to help you understand the size of the subwoofer.
What I don’t like
Let’s start with what I think is negative about the speaker set. For a long time I didn’t use the speakers because of the impressive bass! I live in a flat and the bass from the subwoofer was just too much.
Fortunately I was able to adjust the bass with equalizer software that I installed on Windows 10. The equalizer software meant I was able to enjoy the speaker set again. It would have been nice if I could somehow adjust the bass directly on the hardware itself.
What I do like
Well, mainly the sound quality! When I watched a movie trailer, listened to music or played a game, I think the speaker set was impressive for the price and size.
I’ve owned sets of speakers before that I’ve used with a computer and these are by far the best yet.
I also like the fact that the speaker set is powered via USB. I plugged the USB directly into my computer and that provided enough power.
Lastly I like the size of the individual items in the set. It’s amazing the quality of sound from the items.
Final thoughts
I owned the speaker set for a long time, but I’ve just given the Trust Raina 2.1 subwoofer speaker set to charity! My priorities have changed and I made the decision to get rid of the set. I do miss the set and if you’re looking for a speaker set for a PC, you might want to consider purchasing the Raina 2.1 set.
