July 2021 (Company of Heroes / LineageOS on a G900T / Lavalier Microphone)

This blog post covers co-op gaming, LineageOS on a G900T and buying a cheap microphone to use with my Samsung S5 G900T mobile phone.

Introduction

It has been a while since I’ve written one of my monthly blog posts that doesn’t just focus on one piece of technology. These posts cover a variety of technology, which I might not otherwise blog about.

Company of Heroes Co-Op gaming

I recently played Company of Heroes co-op with my fiancée. We both have the game installed via Steam on our old Windows 10 computers at our home. It is one of our favourite RTS games.

This screenshot isn’t from a co-op game.

At the time of writing, Steam reports that I’ve played 606 hours of CoH and 303 hours of the Blitzkreig Mod! I’ve also played other mods and in the past I played CoH without Steam. I think by far this is my favourite game over the last decade.

I’ve had Blitzkreig Mod co-op games go out of sync, but not CoH (without mods) using the same computers.

Installing LineageOS 16 on a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900T mobile phone

I’ve decided to go backwards and once again install LineageOS 16 onto my G900T phone, having been unhappy with 17 on the phone. I’m a big fan of the S5 and also own the G900F model. If I had to choose between the G900 F or T model, I prefer the F.

I might stop using my G900T full-time by the end of 2022 or perhaps sooner, but I like the specifications still and the ability to remove and replace the battery, as well as being able to fit a microSD. I also like being able to record 4K and 1080p video and using the custom ROM LineageOS.

Purchases

In July I made various purchases, such as USB adapters, a docking station and other items.

Microsoft adapter for a Surface Laptop

I think one of the best purchases I made was to buy a second Microsoft 1800 charger, which is now left plugged in, but turned off at a desk until it’s required. This saves the hassle of having to unplug and then plug in again an adapter under a desk at home.

The adapter that actually came with the laptop is used elsewhere out and about. Plus I think it’s useful to have a backup adapter in case the original becomes faulty.

Lavalier Microphone

I already own a few microphones, but wanted another mic and I purchased the AGPTEK lavalier microphone. I’ve not given it a proper test yet, but my first impressions are good.

I plan on using the microphone on my Samsung S5 G900T mobile phone and perhaps also with a G900F and other phones.

What’s coming up?

I’m not entirely sure at this stage, as I’ve been ill recently. I’m still using technology and I’ve worked on some draft blog posts, including a post for the Samsung G900F/T.

I hope you have a good month.
