This blog post tells you how to download Facebook videos using a Windows 10 computer.
Introduction
My cousin contacted me and said she wanted to download videos from Facebook. She had originally recorded the videos herself and the videos were personal family moments. I was happy to help and spent twenty minutes working out the instructions to download the Facebook videos.
I’ve tried my instructions using both Firefox and Chrome browsers on a Windows 10 PC. I thought others might appreciate these instructions so I’m publishing them on my blog.
How to save a video somebody sends you in a message. (using mobile friendly)
- In your browser url, type mbasic.facebook.com to show a mobile friendly login.
- Log into Facebook.
- Click to play the video and you will be prompted to download the video.
How to save a video somebody uploads to their profile.
- Go to person’s Facebook page.
- Click ‘More’ and then ‘Videos’.
- Select a video.
- Right click on the video and select ‘show video url’.
- Copy the video url and paste into the browser, where you type in a web address.
- Before ‘facebook.com’, type ‘mbasic.’ i.e. mbasic.facebook.com/story.php?..
- Start playing the video.
- Right click on the video and select ‘Save video as…’
How to save a video somebody sends you in a message. (using My collections)
- Click on the three ‘…’ dots next to the video.
- Select ‘Save to Facebook’.
- From your ‘My collections’ section, click on the video.
- It should prompt you to download the video.

Conclusion
I wrote these instructions in November 2019 and I’ve only just published them! I hope you’ve found them helpful, but I presume at some stage they won’t work.
