This blog post tells you how I solved a problem when installing Red Alert 3 on Windows 7.
So I’ve just purchased Command and Conquer – Red Alert 3 and I suspect I will spend far too many hours playing this game. I was a huge fan of the original’s and played Red Alert 2 far too much over the years.
Anyway straight away I ran into a problem when trying to install. This game was released back in 2008 and Microsoft Windows 7 was not released. To install on windows 7 you need to browse the files on the installation cd. Right click on the file called EASetup and then select Properties from the menu. You now need to select the compatibility tab and select Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Et voila!
Be warned though when I installed it had a serious amount of updates to download, but hey was a good excuse for a mug of tea. Have fun!
Hi Andrew,
I came across your advice and tried it, but it still does not want to continue on the status of the installation, can you help?
Thanx
Juan
Hello Juan,
Sorry I’ve only just seen your message. Since writing this blog post, I’m now running RA3 via Steam using Windows 10.
Hope you were / are able to resolve your installation issue.
Regards
Andrew
